I. Contents of the OEM Windows 95 Year 2000 Update CD
-----------------------------------------------------
You should install each of the Year 2000 Updates on this CD.


1. Windows 95 Year 2000 Update: The Year 2000 update for Windows 95 
   users.

   In an ongoing effort to address possible issues associated with the 
   year 2000, Microsoft has identified several minor Year 2000 issues 
   within Windows 95. This update addresses these known issues which 
   are associated with generating dates on your computer on or after 
   January 1, 2000. The known issues cover leap year calculations in 
   particular circumstances, the handling of some date/time settings, 
   and incorrect logging of on-line calling. An update to Internet 
   Explorer is also included as to address several minor year 2000 
   issues in some versions of Internet Explorer.

2. Outlook Express Year 2000 Update: The Year 2000 Update for Outlook 
   Express SP2 version 4.72.3612.1713
   
   Outlook Express Year 2000 Update fixes a four-digit date 
   dependency within Outlook Express SP2. Outlook Express SP2 is 
   included with Internet Explorer 4.01 SP2. You must install Internet 
   Explorer 4.01 SP2 (included in this update) in order to install the 
   Year 2000 update for Outlook Express SP2.	
   Users of Internet Explorer 5 do not need this Outlook Express year 
   2000 update.


For specific information on the year 2000 issues addressed by this OEM 
Windows 95 Year 2000 Update CD view the readme file y2kw95.txt in your 
Windows folder after installing this update. You can also locate the 
readme file on the CD in the \Y2k folder.

II.  Installation notes
-----------------------

A. Before you install the OEM Windows 95 Year 2000 Update CD

The OEM Windows 95 Year 2000 Update CD updates your system files and 
requires you to restart your computer during installation. Make sure 
that you save and close all open documents and close all programs 
before installing the Update.


III. Release notes
------------------

If you reinstall the Windows 95 operating system, you will lose the
benefits of the OEM Windows 95 Year 2000 Update. If you must reinstall
Windows 95, make sure that you also reinstall the OEM Windows 95 Year 
2000 Update.


IV. Advanced Installation Information for Corporate IT Managers
---------------------------------------------------------------

Silent installations of the updates included in OEM Windows 95 Year 
2000 Update are possible by running the individual updates using the 
following optional command line parameters. This information is 
provided only for advanced users and IT managers.

Note: When you use installation parameters to suppress a reboot prompt 
for any of the included updates, the installation process will not be 
complete until the system is rebooted.

1. Silent installation syntax for Windows 95 Year 2000 Update. 
   This update consists of the file w95y2k.exe in the folder x:\Y2K\en\, 
   where "x" is your CD-ROM drive letter or mapped network drive. 

   w95y2k.exe /Q /C:"y2ksetup /ii /ai /nr"
   This will install the core Y2K files, not prompt to install IE4 SP2, 
   not install IE4 SP2, and not reboot.

   w95y2k.exe /Q /C:"y2ksetup /ii /ai /ar"
   This will install the core Y2K files, not prompt to install IE4 SP2, 
   not install IE4 SP2, and reboot without prompting.

Note: If you install the Year 2000 Update using either of the above 
formats you will then need to separately install Internet Explorer 4.01 
SP2.

2. Silent installation syntax for Internet Explorer 4.01 SP2.
   The setup program for Internet Explorer 4.01 SP2 (ie4setup.exe) is 
   located on the CD in the folder x:\y2k\en\ie4sp2, where "x" is your 
   CD-ROM drive letter or mapped network drive.

   ie4setup.exe /Q
   This will install without user intervention, but prompt for a reboot.

   ie4setup.exe /Q:A
   This will install without any dialogs, prompts, graphical user 
   interface, or other indicator of installation progress, and no reboot 
   prompt.

3. Silent installation syntax for Outlook Express SP2 Update.
   This update consists of the file q234680.exe in the folder x:\y2kaddon, 
   where "x" is your CD-ROM drive letter or mapped network drive.

   q234680.exe /Q:A
   This will install without user intervention, and not prompt for a reboot. 

Also included on the CD with OEM Windows 95 Year 2000 Update is the Euro 
Currency Support Update for Windows 95. This update allows display font 
support for the euro symbol, keyboard and printing support, as well as the 
ability to use the euro symbol as your default currency.

The setup program to install euro currency support is w95euro.exe located 
in the \EUROFONT folder on the CD. Run this program to enable euro currency 
support for Windows 95.

Silent installation is also possible for the Euro Currency Support Update:

w95euro.exe /Q /R:N 
This will install without user intervention, and not prompt for a reboot.
